Our Story

It All Started With A MySpace Message....

Our story began in 2006, back when MySpace was the place to be.

Kenyatta was preparing to move from New Jersey and messaged Tiffany looking for someone to show him around Baltimore. There was just one small problem with this plan: Tiffany wasn't actually from Baltimore.

But after messaging back and forth, they eventually made plans to meet in person at The Cheesecake Factory in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

Tiffany arrived first.

Kenyatta was late.

And if we're telling this story accurately, Tiffany only waited because it was late, and she didn't want to walk back to her car by herself. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Not exactly the beginning of a Hallmark movie—but apparently it worked out.

Kenyatta never did get that promised tour of Baltimore. Tiffany did, however, Google the address where he was planning to live and send him some options. He chose one of them, moved in, and that apartment would eventually become their first home together.

At 30 and 26, neither of them could have imagined where that first meeting would lead.

Day By Day

There was never a grand plan for their relationship. They simply took things day by day, without immediate expectations about what it had to become.

In 2007, they continued dating, building their friendship and getting to know each other's families.

Then came 2008.

Tiffany was going back to school and working at Bright Horizons when she moved in with Kenyatta. The arrangement was supposed to be temporary—a chance for Tiffany to save some money before moving back out.

She never moved out. 😂

And somewhere along the way, the life they hadn't necessarily planned became the life they were building together.

In February 2014, they welcomed Ayanna. Just a few months later, in May, they bought their home. Then, in August 2015, Amari joined the family.

For Kenyatta and Tiffany, creating a family that genuinely enjoys being together has become one of the most meaningful parts of the life they've built.

They love doing things together as a family, but at the center of it all, Kenyatta and Tiffany are also simply best friends. They're the people who seek each other out when they have something to share, something to talk about, or just want to be together.

That doesn't mean they're exactly alike.

Actually, they're pretty much opposites.

Kenyatta is a Capricorn. Tiffany is a Gemini.

Kenyatta is direct and can communicate an entire thought in approximately three words.

Tiffany...likes words. Lots of them. 😂

Somehow, it works.

Over the years, they've learned how to balance one another while still giving each other room to be exactly who they are.

For Tiffany, one of the things she loves most about Kenyatta is his dependability. He is always there for her, always looking out for her, and sometimes seems to know what she needs before she does. Beneath his direct, no-nonsense way is a big and caring heart.

For Kenyatta, it's the freedom and acceptance he has found with Tiffany. In his words, what he loves most is that "she allows me to be me and embraces the leadership I try to provide."

Maybe that's part of why two people who can be so different have spent two decades choosing each other. Neither has had to become the other. They've learned when to lead, when to listen, when to lean on each other, and how to let their differences create balance.

And through all of life's changes, they've continued doing what they started doing back in 2006: taking life together one day at a time.

So....Are We Getting Married?

Fast-forward to New Year's Eve 2024.

Tiffany was upstairs working when the kids called her downstairs to watch the ball drop. She came down expecting a New Year's countdown.

Instead, a little blue box was tossed into her lap.

Tiffany was completely shocked. She looked at Kenyatta and asked, "Are you asking me to marry you?"

Kenyatta, in true Kenyatta fashion, responded:

"So what's your answer?"

And then Amari summed up nearly two decades of family life perfectly:

"I thought you were already married." 😂

Honestly, fair point.

After nearly 20 years together, there wasn't a dramatic reason that 2026 suddenly became the year they would get married. They just decided it was time.

The Next Chapter

When it came to choosing where to celebrate, Tiffany knew she wanted to be married by the water. Chesapeake Beach gave them the waterfront setting she envisioned while keeping everything they needed close to home.

So, in October 2026, they'll gather by the water with the people they love and celebrate a relationship that was never built around rushing toward the next milestone.

It was built day by day.

A random MySpace message.

A very late first date.

An apartment that became their first home.

A "temporary" move that became permanent.

Two children.

A home of their own.

Twenty years of friendship, family, laughter, differences, growing and balancing one another.

And now, finally, a wedding.

After all, according to Amari, they were already married anyway. ❤️

Here's to the next chapter of The Jeffersons.
